Tough Mudder in aid of St Andrew's Hospice

A big-hearted Airdrie duo raised a four figure sum for St Andrews Hospice after completing a gruelling challenge.
Fighting-fit Antony Murray and Tom Flanigan, who both work at Airdrie Insurance firm E G Murray, completed Tough Mudder – an armystyle assault course – raising £2,540 for the hospice.
The money raised will be used to provide specialist palliative care to patients from North and South Lanarkshire and support their families – helping them deal with the traumas and challenges faced.
Antony thanked those who supported the fundraisining effort by donating cash for the Airdrie care facility.
He told the Advertiser: "We have been wanting to do something like this for a while because we know all about the good work they do.
"One of my close friends’ mother was being cared for at the hospice recently so I know that they go the extra mile and they are great at what they do."

And when discussing the challenge, Antony didn’t mince his words. “Tough Mudder was brutal", he laughed.
"We had to suffer electric shocks, crawl under barbed wire and push ourselves through thick mud. It was tough going and it took me about four or five days to recover, but there was a great camaraderie.
Louise O’Donnell, fundraising manager at the Hospice, said: "We are extremely grateful for the amazing hard work that Antony and Tom have put in to achieve this brilliant fundraising total.
"I would like to thank them and everyone who kindly sponsored them for ultimately helping us to make a difference to the lives of our patients and families who need our care."
